Abstract:
High peak to average power ratio is a major drawback of optical OFDM communication, which would seriously affect the communication quality of the system. In this paper, a new method called encoding-predistortion was presented for solving this problem. In which the Hartley Transform was used instead of the traditional Fourier Transform. After the inverse Hartley Transform, the timedomain data was encoded and the generated digital sequence was converted according to the conversion rules. The simulation results showed that the PAPR value of the optical OFDM signal could be reduced to 4.5dB, while its performance would not deteriorate with the increasing number of subcarriers, it could be preferably used in the optical communication system based on OFDM.
